Steamers and Foreskins

Our stay at the Cape has been fantastic!  We have been so lucky to have so many great people showing us their favorite spots in town.  Emily and Amanda took us to a great beach that quickly became the best beach we've visiting so far on our east coast tour.  The 100 foot high sand dunes are unlike anything we've seen.  You actually have to hike down one to get to this beach.  Once you get to the white sand, you can look in each direction for miles of the same.  They also introduced us to the famous "Dark and Stormy" at the Beachcomber which is a delicious blend of ginger beer and dark rum... highly recommended.

Having spent the last 20 summers at the Cape, the Sheas have some secret spots as well.    We kept coming back from adventures with Brendan and Jean (standup, pond swims, bikes, trail runs) saying "now we see why the Sheas love to summer here".  The photo below is the amazing view from the Shea's deck.  We gave trying to figure out what direction the photo is looking.

Emily and Amanda also took us to a place called Pearl on the pier where I had my first oyster and steamer.  I definitely don't think that oysters are a favorite of mine, but I would definitely eat them again.  They shucked them right there in front of us and topped them with lemon, cocktail sauce, and a touch of hot sauce.  They were very fresh, and I'm happy to say that the texture was not as bad as I expected.  We also tried steamers.  In addition to the fact that they are obviously quite falic-looking (see pic) and the foreskin removal process is quite weird, they are really tasty!
Wellfleet, MA is a magic place that deserves another writing right after the 4th.  We are starting with our afternoon Bloodymary's... to be continued.
