Go out in Istanbul?... you Oughtta-man

Today was the first sunny day in Istanbul since we arrived.  So, we decided to bask in the 70 degree weather at the Hilton pool.
Feeling so good about ourselves after another healthy, home-cooked meal, we took our first foray into the Turkish night.
On our walk, we sampled freshly roasted chestnuts from a street vendor (which were insanely good):
We went to the Galata Tower which is over 200 feet tall and was the city's tallest structure when it was built as a watchtower in the Byzantine times (some people say 500, some people say 1348, but the plaque says 1453):
We went to the Galata Bridge at the junction of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.  The bridge spans the Golden Horn connecting the Karakoy side (where we live) to the Eminonu side (where the Grand Bazaar and Blue Mosque are located).  Cafes and restaurants occupy the space underneath the bridge while fisherman cast their lines into the polluted waters below.
And finally, we sampled the national drink Turkish Rakisi (anise flavored spirit similar to Sambuca or Pastis) and some Turkish delight candy that tasted like berry jelly with hazelnuts:
All in all, our night on the town was very successful and we are liking the city more and more!
