Tantuni Lavash

While wandering around the MANY side streets in our busy area of Istanbul, Taksim, we stumbled upon a great looking restaurant called Emine Ana Tantuni.  This restaurant has no menu and since neither of us speaks any Turkish, we each simply ordered "one".  The food we got was so good, that we ended up ordering another round!!!  It's called tantuni lavash.  It is small strips of meat cooked in a thin gravy wrapped in lavish bread (similar to a tortilla) with tomatoes, parsley, onions and spices.  Mmmmm!
The pictures don't quite show the size of the lavash, but they are small enough that two are satisfying, but not filling.  But, since we never saw a menu and had no idea of the price, we decided to tap out at two each and possibly return for more another day.  We expected a Taco-Tuesday size bill since these little delights are so reminiscent of rolled tacos, so we were slightly disappointed to find that they actually cost 5TL ($3 US) each.  C'est la vie.
