Mighty Manly

Todd has spent the last three weeks in Manly renewing his membership at the Manly surf club so he would be eligible to compete in the NSW state surf racing carnival.  Finally, after a bit of finessing (thanks Cam) and and doing "patrol" hours, Todd's paperwork made it through just in time to compete for the mighty Manly Surf Club this weekend.

After a 3:30am wake up call, a trip to the surf club to hook up the equipment trailer, and a 12 hour drive with Tony (chugga-lug) Vicelli we found ourselves near the NSW/Queensland border  in Kingscliff for the State Championships.  Fortunately, we had been "kitted up" with all the necessary club gear:

Day 1 (Thursday) was the master's (over 30) events and overall, the Manly crew placed in just about everything they entered.  Todd swam/ran his "ring out" in the surf team, the taplin, and the individual surf race, all of which they placed in.
One of the highlights of the day (as far as the Manly boys were concerned) was watching Todd attempt to steer a double ski with Mario (a Czech unit).  Sadly, they didn't win it or place, but it was pure comedy for the spectators.
Day 2 (today) was a bit less exciting as Todd was only in one event, however, it gave us a chance to catch up on our sleep so he can be race-ready for tomorrow!  Go Manly!
