Still recovering

Now that we have had a day to recover from Bonnaroo, we feel that it is safe to say a day is not enough.

For us, Bonnaroo was one week of working the night shift (8pm-8am), eating way to much meat and not enough veggies.  For the 80,000 people who came to Bonnaroo, it was four days of non-stop drugs, alcohol, and generally poor hygiene.  Usually, Manchester is a tiny blip on the map with a population of nearly 3,000 people, but for four days every year 80,000 people camp out at Bonnaroo on a 700 acre farm.  We had a few opportunities to drive through the campsites to witness the craziness.  We've been trying to figure out ways to describe what we saw but words would be inadequate.  So, you'll just have to watch the slide show.

Overall, we had a great time at Bonnaroo.  Jay-Z, Dave Matthews Band, Zac Brown Band and John Fogerty were all amazing shows but were almost upstaged by the thunder and lightning storm we had today.   We met some really great people, enojyed the Manchester Rec Center, and of course - Waffle House.

Words we live by

After getting to watch the Zac Brown Band perform this song live for 50,000 people, we pack our rental van with nearly all our earthly possessions for a long drive.  We are not paying rent or commuting to work.  We have few responsibilities and even fewer restrictions.  This song resonates with us because we truly are free.

So we live out in our old van
Travel all across this land
Me and you

And we'll end up hand in hand

Somewhere down on the sand
Just me and you

Just as free

Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

We'll drive until the city lights

Dissolve into a country sky
Just me and you

Lay underneath the harvest moon

Do all the things that lovers do
Just me and you

Just as free

Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
And ever be

No we don't have a lot of money

All we need is love

We're free as we'll ever be

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

So we live out in our old van

Travel all across this land
Me and you

WHEEGO? weDONTgo. . .

As the Overnight Site Ops Manager and Office Manager, we were allotted a rad-looking little Electric Vehicle called a Wheego.  So far we are completely underwhelmed, a bit embarrassed and occasionally fearing for our safety.  We think it has some guts but we also think there is a governor on it since we CANNOT go one mile an hour over 25!  The commute from hotel to site is only about 5 miles but we manage to cause a traffic jam each direction and after only two round-trips are worried that we're gonna run out of charge!  WE DON'T GO!
Other than that, Waffle House rocks.
Fireflys are cool.
And, "I tell you what. . ."

10 S E

Double scotch bread pudding, Memphis-style pulled pork...Tennessee food sticks to your ribs but "I tell you what" I reckon it's pretty good!  And lets not forget the local whisky drink made with George Dickel and Pepsi.  Pepadick rocks, please!

Bonnaroo Baby!

Everyone sing along, "We're going to Bonnaroo!"  Just arrived in Manchester to work the Bonnaroo festival for the next ten days.  Keep your fingers crossed for no rain!
