The Last Supper - Guayoyo

For our last dinner in NYC, we decided to revisit an old favorite, Guayoyo, for some Venezuelan food.  We chose a bottle of Sangria and the Prix Fix Tapas to start which included chicken avocado salad, pulled pork, slow-roasted pork belly, fried calamari, black beans, ceviche, plantain chips with spicy black bean sauce, and fried corn rounds.  Everything (but the pork belly because we are not big fans of fatty pork) was fantastic.
For our main entree, we chose the Cachapa Pernil.  We tried to figure out the perfect wording to describe this plate and could not decide between "heaven on a plate" and "pancake goodness".  Cachapa Pernil is basically a large savory-sweet corn cake topped with handmade white cheese, pulled pork, tomatoes and avocado.  While not the healthiest meal, Guayoyo was truly a perfect way to say aloha to New York City!
