January 6th - Epiphany

January 6th is an important holiday here in Uruguay.  It is the day that the Three Wise Men visited baby Jesus in Bethlehem and it is celebrated much like Christmas.  On the night of the 5th, young children put out water and grass for the Wise Men’s camels to eat.  The next morning, they wake up to find that the water and grass has disappeared and that the Three Wise Men left them gifts.  For adults without kids, the holiday means a day off from work.  For us, it means that our stack of dirty laundry will have to wait until tomorrow and that the beach will probably be crowded.
