Touring The Beaches

On Saturday, Maria, Henrique and Lucca took us to a neighborhood market for some acai and a banana-nutella crepe that Kristina and Lucca could not pass up :)
From there, we headed to a beautiful beach south of Cape Town called Llandudno.  Upon our arrival, we were greeted with this very helpful sign on how to be “shark smart” with all the great whites that roam these parts.
The beach was great, the weather was perfect and the waves were nice enough that Todd bodysurfed for about ten minutes before he froze to death and retreated to the beach.
Our great beach day ended with some beers, a pot of mussels, and a sunset at La Med.

At about 5am the next morning, we woke up to unusual construction noise. We later realized the noise was the building of a pedestrian overpass directly outside our gate for the annual Argus bike race. We heard the first cheers for the passing racers a few hours later and headed outside to join in the excitement!
With all the commotion from the Argus race in town, we decided to take a small road trip (2 hours) with Maria and Henrique north to a lagoon beach called Langebaan. The beach is in the West Coast National Park which means they charge you a fee of R30 per person upon entry and it’s a safe haven for animals like these:
We set up camp at a section of the beach called Kraalbaai where the lagoon water was MUCH warmer than the Cape Town ocean. Thanks again Maria and Henrique for a great beach day!
