That's right... rode an ostrich. We went to the Cango Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn today where they took us on a tour of their ostrich farm. We saw the contents of an ostriches stomach and learned that the rocks they consume help to grind up the food because they don't have teeth,
we fed a tame ostrich named Betsy,
we met a dwarf ostrich (apparently they are very rare),
we stood on ostrich eggs,
and finally, Kristina got to ride one!
Ordinarily, that would be the most exciting thing to happen in a day. But, the Cango Caves that we toured were incredible (we did the standard tour)!
Believe it or not, that may not have been the most amazing thing that happened today. Possibly, the most amazing thing is that Kristina drove on the left (WRONG) side of the road - for about 1 km. And, believe me, it was much more stressful for both of us than riding an ostrich.
